Make Your Project GREAT With the Right Paper!
The Difference Between Coated and Uncoated Paper
Coated Paper - Coated paper has a surface sealant that restricts ink from absorbing into the surface of the paper. The sealant allows for a crisper image on your print projects and it ideal with photos, gradients and fine detailed images. Sheen options (look and feel of the paper) typically fall under the categories of gloss, matte, dull and satin.
Uncoated Paper - If you use uncoated paper the ink dries by absorbing into the paper. There are many different paper types that are uncoated, and they are typically available in a variety of surfaces, both smooth and textured. You can save some cost on your presentation if you don't have high resolution images, photos, gradients or fine detailed images.
How Much Does Paper Weigh?
Depending on your print project, you may have some paper weight choices. In the printing industry, paper weight is defined as "how much does 500 sheets weigh." Your common printer paper is 20 to 50 lbs., while paper used for business cards may be 80 lbs. (typically called "cardstock") When you are picking out a paper to use on your print project, the weight is extremely important. A business card that is printed on a 50 lb. paper wouldn't hold up to the time it will spend in pockets, purses and cars - while a set of meeting notes wouldn't be practical (or very cost effective) if printed on very heavy cardstock. Our team can guide you through the paper varieties and help you pick the right weight for your project.
Your print projects will stand out when paired with the correct paper. You can trust the best printing company to combine your needs, your preferences, and your budget to create a perfect presentation of your business. From glossy business cards, to custom company Christmas cards on a linen textured paper, we'll help you find a fit that will impress your customers.
