Paper Weights
Depending on your project, you may have some paper weight choices. In the printing industry, paper weight is defined as "how much does 500 sheets weigh." Your common printer paper is 20 to 50 lbs., while paper used for business cards may be 80 lbs. (typically called "cardstock") When you are picking out a paper to use on your print project, the weight is extremely important. A business card that is printed on a 50 lb. paper wouldn't hold up to the time it will spend in pockets, purses, and cars, while a set of meeting notes wouldn't be practical (or very cost effective) if printed on very heavy cardstock. Our team can guide you through the paper varieties and help you pick the right weight for your project. Here are some common paper weights you can choose from:- Book or Bond – Light weight, easily folded into a book or pamphlet
- Text Weight – Heavier, good quality, envelopes, and letterheads
- Cover Weight – Thicker, more rigid, card stock, good for postcards, catalogs, and brochures
