Go GREEN with Lake Printing!

In a day and age where many are trying to make an impact on the earth through their daily habits, Lake Printing is no different.  Printing is a practice that is used in almost every office space all over the world, and it involves electricity, ink, and paper. All of these can make a huge impact on the planet, and that's why Lake Printing has become a Green Certified Printer. We care about protecting this planet, but we also realize that you need professional print products just as much as ever, so we've found a great compromise.  Have you ever wondered why green print processes matter and make a difference?  Here are a few reasons why we believe in green printing, and how our shop protects the earth one sheet of paper at a time.

Why Green Printing Matters

Reducing Your Carbon Footprint Doesn’t Mean Reduction in Quality:

Quite often, going green is equated with a higher price on products or a lower quality product overall.  That’s not how it has to be!  When you choose to go with recycled paper or soy ink, you are actually getting a very high-quality product that matches if not exceeds the former, while still making a great impact.

It's Not Just About the Earth:

While we do gain a sense of satisfaction from knowing that we're making an impact on the earth through our printing practices, there are other great reasons for changing the way printing has been done.  For example, in the past, there have been many toxic materials used in printing as well as other hazardous waste materials that could have been distributed through the printing process.  We aren't just saving the earth through changing our processes, we're improving the quality of life for our employees and even their families.

How Lake Printing is Protecting the Earth

Our Ink is Green!

At Lake Printing, we use soy ink instead of petroleum-based ink, not just because it's better for the earth, but also because it can also produce brighter, more vibrant colors. This means that the final product is safe for the earth AND visually appealing. It can also be more cost-effective than other oil-based inks.

We Recycle!

Recycling is generally one of the first things that come to mind when you think of ways to be more eco-friendly.  Our company recycles all wastepaper, cardboard, used printing plates, solvents, and used toner cartridges.  We also believe in using recycled paper whenever possible.  Some print projects need to have new paper, but if we have the choice of going green, we try to use recycled paper when possible.

We Wash & Re-Use!

Paper towels are a huge resource, but they are also extremely wasteful from an eco-friendly perspective. The process to make paper towels uses more resources than you would imagine, like oil, water and of course, trees.  This is one of the many reasons why our company chooses to use washable shop towels in our production area instead of disposable paper towels.  In this way, we are able to save hundreds of trees, and also save tons of space in landfills, with this ONE eco-friendly choice.  We also choose to re-use boxes and packing material received in incoming shipments whenever possible to package our outgoing deliveries.

Even our Proofs are Eco-Friendly!

As a national printing company, one of the most important parts of our business is sending proofs to our clients.  While many companies will show printed proofs, we have made the choice to send customers PDF proofs via email whenever possible.  This saves on the amount of paper and ink that is wasted on a proof so we can use it for the actual print piece. By choosing to accept PDF proofs, you are helping us help the environment. If you can opt for the PDF or virtual proof, it's always best to do so.

Your Print Company for Eco-Friendly Solutions

At Lake Printing, we take green printing seriously, and that's why we've taken specific measures to create an eco-friendly workflow.  Lake Printing Company, Inc. is proud to be FSC and SFI certified. Because of that, we offer our customers paper that has been certified to be kinder to the environment, and we have changed our ink and press solutions to make them more eco-friendly.  If you are ready to start saving the planet while still receiving the best print products, visit our website to learn more!
